Thank you to all schools and sports that have provided feedback to the draft SSNZ 2026 Eligibility regulations. These will help shape the final wording in what has been a comprehensive review of the regulations. The SSNZ board meet on the 14th November 2025 and we hope to provide the confirmed regulations soon after. 

Given the challenges we have faced in being able to provide the draft for consultation, the board previously agreed that no changes to NTS quota limits would be implemented for 2026. However, pursuant with clause 13.2a of the new regulations which states:

For Team Sports: NTS Students should ordinarily not make up more than 20% of the School’s squad (rounded to nearest full number), including starters and substitutes

We are therefore expecting change to NTS quotas for 2027 onward. 

Clause 13.5 also allows Members (sports or schools) to apply for a review or change of a sport’s NTS limit.

We will begin this work in early 2026 so that any confirmed changes are consulted on and agreed, with as much notice as possible for 2027.
