NZ Schools & NZ Barbarians Schools - Assistant Coach Appointments - NZ RUGBY


NZ SCHOOLS AND NZ BARBARIAN SCHOOLS TEAMS 2021

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and the New Zealand Schools’ Rugby Union (NZSRU) are seeking to make appointments for the following positions for the 2021 rugby season:
 

  • NEW ZEALAND SCHOOLS - ASSISTANT COACH X 1 
  • NEW ZEALAND BARBARIAN SCHOOLS – ASSISTANT COACHES X 2 
     

Assistant coaches are sought for both the New Zealand Schools Team and the New Zealand Barbarian Team for their 2021 Campaign. These positions will provide an exciting coach development opportunity, in a High-Performance environment, working alongside professional coaches. 

This campaign provides a critical pathway programme for New Zealand’s top 50 schoolboy talent split across the two teams. The campaign aims to accelerate the development of these players towards professional rugby, through a performance focus over a 2-week period.

The campaign dates are likely to be Thursday 23rd September to Sunday 5th October 2021 inclusive and aim to play two international matches.


Criteria for application

Essential

  • Currently coaching school 1XV players in New Zealand
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a coach of 1xv level players
  • Developing Rugby Coaches Level 2 qualified, or equivalent
  • Track record of preparing both individual and teams to perform to a high level
  • Genuine interest in helping players on and off the field, at this key development stage

Desirable

  • Experience working in High-Performance rugby environments
  • Teaching or education qualification/experience
  • Performance Course Level 3 qualified, or equivalent
  • Aspirations to progress to being a professional coach
  • A thorough understanding of the player pathway within New Zealand Rugby


The successful candidates will be required to work under the guidance of the NZR High-Performance Staff to implement systems and processes that ensure a quality High Performance environment is achieved.

The role is fixed term for the duration of the 2021 campaign, with a fixed daily rate payment for services. There will be some planning and selection meetings outside of campaign, to which reasonable travel expense will be covered. Some adidas outfitting will be including for each coach.
