NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2026

School Sport New Zealand Incorporated (SSNZ) hereby gives formal notice of the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

5:00pm NZST

Mövenpick Hotel, Wellington

Attendance Options

The AGM will be held as a hybrid meeting, allowing participation:

• In person at the Mövenpick Hotel, Wellington
• Online via a digital meeting platform (details to be provided closer to the meeting)

Members will be able to attend, speak and vote in accordance with the SSNZ Constitution.

Governance Transition – Board Elections and Appointments

The 2026 AGM marks a significant step in the implementation of the new governance structure for School Sport New Zealand, established under the revised Constitution.

SSNZ is committed to ensuring strong, future-focused governance for secondary school sport in Aotearoa New Zealand. The new board structure is designed to bring together:

• strong educational leadership from school principals
• governance and strategic expertise
• deep knowledge of secondary school sport
• diversity of experience and perspective

This governance model will help ensure SSNZ continues to provide national leadership, integrity, and coordination of secondary school sport, supporting participation and wellbeing outcomes for young people across the country.

Board Positions Available

All Board positions will be available through the transition process in 2026.

The SSNZ Board will consist of nine members, comprising:

Elected Board Members

• Four (4) current Principals of School Members elected by School Members
• One (1) individual elected by Sports Members

Appointed Board Members

• Four (4) individuals appointed by the Board Appointments Panel (BAP) following the AGM, one of which must be a current member Principal of a School Member.

The Board Appointments Panel independently assesses nominees and applicants and makes recommendations and appointments in accordance with the SSNZ Constitution.

1. Nominations for Elected Board School Member Positions

• Nominations may be submitted by eligible School Members in accordance with the Constitution.

• Applications are open to individuals with relevant governance, leadership, sport, or organisational expertise, including Principals.
