📅 25–27 March | 📍 Māori Bay, Waitākere
The NZ School Surfing Festival is back for its second year, bringing together top school surf teams from across the country to battle for the prestigious Cranch Cup. Hosted by Muriwai Surf School, the event will take place at Māori Bay on Auckland’s rugged west coast.
This Tag Team format allows schools to enter mixed-ability squads, competing in heats and advancing through Cup and Plate rounds, ensuring multiple opportunities to showcase their talent.
Growing Competition & Exciting Conditions
Surfing NZ President Ben Kennings is optimistic about the event, saying, "The forecast looks great for competition days, and we’ve seen a slight increase in team numbers from last year, with 17 boys' and 5 girls' teams confirmed."
Defending champions Whangamatā (boys) and Mount Maunganui College (girls) are set to return, determined to hold onto their titles.
