Part 2. Coaching for Impact - for coaches working with secondary school age athletes.
Sport NZ are excited to open applications for a new programme for coaches working with secondary school age athletes - ‘Coaching for Impact’. The programme is closely aligned to our 2020-24 strategy and the Balance is Better philosophy, supporting rangatahi to have quality experiences in sport and stay involved for life. The programme will be nationally led by Sport NZ and locally supported by experienced mentors - enabling coaches to learn and grow in their own environment.
Coaching for Impact will offer a unique professional development opportunity for up to 60 coaches and is open to all experienced NZ coaches (3 or more years’ experience is recommended) who are actively coaching secondary school age athletes in a school, club, regional or national setting. School Sport NZ is particularly interested in teacher coaches taking up this opportunity and are offering support for teachers who are successful in applying and where costs may be a barrier (see part 3 below).
Applications are open until 30 November, and 60 coaches will be accepted onto the programme for the first two years, starting in February 2021. Find out more and apply HERE and a flyer to promote to your coaches can be downloaded HERE.
