2020 CONDOR SEVENS

In these uncertain times, with a pandemic rampant worldwide, and several lockdowns to contend with in NZ, our world as we know it has changed forever, and Auckland alone remains in Alert Level 2 with the rest of the country at Level 1.

The only certainty Condors can convey at this time is that our planning has not stopped, and the hosting of the 34th Condor Sevens National Tournament at King’s College, Golf Road, Otahuhu from Thursday 10 December to Sunday 13 December 2020 is confirmed, with Open Grade on the 10th & 11th and Under 15s on the 12th & 13th of December.

We can advise that air travel (South Island, Wellington Regions), vans and buses, all venue infrastructure at King’s College, Sky Sport live broadcast, Sky Sport Next live streaming, full complement of referees etc. has been confirmed.

We will not compromise on the quality of service we have provided at all our previous tournaments because of this pandemic, and we are committed to delivering another first class, and most enjoyable experience for all students, school management, whānau, and supporters alike.

It has been very difficult indeed planning any sporting event in 2020, however it seems more than likely that New Zealand will be at Alert Level One by October or early November at the latest, and that the Condor Sevens will proceed without restraint on the 10th of December.

In the unlikely event we remain at Alert Level 2 through to December, then the tournament will proceed, but the restriction on crowd numbers will be strictly observed.

If, however, we return to Alert Level 3 or 4 during November or December, then we will have no choice but to cancel our 34th tournament.

We must remind everyone that Condors cannot predict what the future holds, and to this end we ask everyone to be patient, and that we all wait to see how future events transpire over the next month or two.

Best of luck to everyone in these most unusual times.
