With a number of changes to Alert Level 2 operating from midday today, in particular the number for mass gatherings rising to 100, Sport NZ have updated their guidelines to sport sector.
The guidelines provide useful advice and schools should consider these within the framework of the Ministry of Education guidelines to schools to help inform approaches to school sport.
The new guidelines for community sport allow for groups of 100 or fewer to come together without the need for physical distancing, but with contact tracing and public hygiene measures in place. This number must include participants, spectators, officials and coaches. However variations of this rule apply to allow for more than one gathering to take place and spectators to be treated differently, provided that groups are kept separated. This information is important for interschool and community based school sport.
