As I’m sure you would have seen, School Sport New Zealand has suspended all events on the national secondary school sports calendar. This decision will be reviewed again on the 6th of April by the School Sport New Zealand board. This review date comes after the NZSS Futsal Championships are scheduled to take place on the 30th March to 3rd April.

The competitions team at New Zealand Football have worked closely with School Sport New Zealand to determine whether or not this event can be postponed to later in 2020 and after an extensive review, have concluded that this event cannot be postponed for 2020, and instead has been cancelled.

In making this decision NZF reviewed whether this competition could be held in other School Sport New Zealand Tournament windows and/or School Holidays with minimal impact on other footballing activity in New Zealand. Upon reviewing this it is evident that there would be to great an impact on other competitions should this tournament move.

This decision obviously has a few implications, especially for schools that have already paid the entry fee. I can confirm that all of the entry fees will be refunded to schools that have already paid. The following process needs to be followed to ensure your refund can be processed.

1. NZF will process these refunds on the following dates:
   
   If received before 20 March 2020 refunds will be processed on 31 March 2020
   
   If received after the 20 March 2020 refunds will be processed on 30 April 2020.
